Over the past few years, Patrick Hawes has emerged as one of the most popular contemporary English composers. Within weeks of its release in 2004, his debut album Blue In Blue stormed the classical charts and was made CDof the week on Classic FM. Subsequently, it was voted the fastest and highest new entry into the Hall of Fame by the Classic FM audience. As Classic FM’s composer in residence for 2006/7, he was commissioned to write the twelveTowards The Light piano pieces that appear in this collection.
